CLEANING YOUR SPRAYER SAVES YOU TIME AND MONEY

Sprayers must be cleaned to prevent cross-contamination between herbicides and other chemicals that can be very costly to farmers. With today’s highly active sulfonylurea herbicides, trace amounts of one chemical can react with another or carry-over to the next spraying, causing serious damage to crops.

Cleaning crop sprayers will also prevent corrosion and extend the life and effective operation of the unit. Exposure to even small amounts of some chemicals can damage sprayer components, including stainless steel tips and fiberglass tanks.

Here are a few useful tips for effective spraying and sprayer cleaning after use.

q Always try to end the day with an empty tank.
q Mix only what is needed for that day's jobs.
q Choose the spray cleaning area carefully.
q Avoid contaminating water supplies and injury to plants or animals.
q Don't make puddles that might be accessible to children, pets, farm animals or wildlife.
q Always flush with clean water and drain even if you plan to apply the same material the next day.
q Rinse the outside of the sprayer.
q Whenever you change herbicide or prior to storage, thoroughly clean the sprayer with CLEAN-OUT TM

CLEAN-OUT TM is especially formulated to clean modern herbicides residues from sprayers after use.

CLEAN-OUT TM is a 5 way spray tank cleaner. It’s unique formulation contains
§ detergent
§ degreaser
§ wetting agent
§ pH modifier
§ sequestering agent

CLEAN-OUT TM contains no ammonia or caustics for easier handling of rinsades.

Remember. No cleaning method is 100% foolproof. Be sure to read the label and follow manufacturer’s recommendations when cleaning sprayer equipment.

Further reading. We suggest that you read Dupont’s Agricultural Bulletin “A Guide to Application Equipment Cleanout for Dupont Sulfonylurea Herbicides” It contains valuable information on effective ways to clean out spraying equipment.

Cleaning your spray equipment will save you money by reducing the risk of crop injury and extending the life of the sprayers. A clean sprayer will perform better and will save you time during the critical spraying operation.

NOTE: The use of CLEAN-OUT TM or other tank cleaners does not guarantee removal and/or neutralization of all residues. Some pesticides, such as 2, 4D and dicamba, may leave persistent or hard-to-remove residues. Many variables exist which make consistent tank cleaning difficult (i.e. water quality, use of cleaning equipment, quantity and type of residue, age and condition of spray tank, spray lines, nozzles, etc.). To ensure that all residues have been removed, apply a sample of the rinse water to sensitive plants (tomato, cotton, ornamentals, etc.) and after sufficient time, observe for wilting or severe stress. If stress occurs, repeat cleaning process and retest as above.
